Monday Monday

 {Dress: Borrowed, Tights: Target, Boots: Macy's}

Today 100% felt like a Monday.  It was a very dreary day weather-wise in Portland which also didn't help, but luckily my pal Justine and I hung out after work which made the day more fun.   She was sweet enough to go grocery shopping with me, not always a huge task, but tonight it definitely was a long grocery list.  I made us chicken noodle soup for dinner, and then we watched the Bachelor.  Do you watch the Bachelor? Who is your favorite?

25 & 26

{Cardigan: H&M, Button-Up: Forever 21, Jeans: Forever 21, Boots: Steve Madden}

Today has been a very lazy day, so much in fact that I only checked one thing off of my long to-do list.  I think that's ok for a Sunday though, I like Sunday's to be relaxing.  I did however, just get done watching the Oscar pre-show, and have to say that I loved Gwyneth Paltrow's dress with the exception of the brooch, and my least favorite outfit was Reese Witherspoon's.  I think Reese's outfit looked like something I would have seen at a high school dance several years ago.  What were your hits and misses on the red carpet?

The Lost Outfit

 {Blazer: H&M, Shirt: Target, Jeans: Gap, Boots: Macy's}

As I was going through my photos in preparation for a challenge wrap-up, I noticed that I didn't post an outfit photo.  Although this outfit was simple, I think that it is one of my favorites from the challenge.  Anything that includes a blazer, striped shirt, and boots can't be bad right?

Finally Friday

{Cardigan: Gap, Shirt: Target, Scarf: Gift, Jeans: H&M, Flats: BCBG}

I'm partial to believe that "short" work weeks actually feel longer than a normal workweek.  I am so happy that it's finally Friday!  Also, calories don't count on Friday's right? I hope so because I have eaten more Girl Scout cookies today than I'd like to admit.  Although I was a Girl Scout drop out, I always feel sucked in to buy at least one box of Thin Mints and they are so delicious!

Also do you like how my cat has become my most common "accessory."  He just can't help but include himself in my pictures.  (In the second picture he's trying to attack my hand.)

Scarf Organization

It took me quite awhile to find the perfect solution to organize my scarfs, but now I finally have it and it takes up only a little bit of closet space.  If you don't have that many scarfs, this organizer could also work for belts.  I think that I bought my tie rack at either Target, but they probably have them at any store like Target.  I also put my least worn scarfs on the bottom pegs so that I know my favorites are on top and more easily accessible.

P.S. because of the snow, and the fact that I worked from home today, and therefore didn't get out of my workout clothes, I don't have an outfit post for today.

Black & White Stripe

 {Sweater & Cardigan: Forever 21, Jeans: Gap, Boots: DSW}

To most people in the Northwest, it's not really a surprise that the weather was sunny, hailing, rainy, and snowy all in one day.  What's even less surprising is how the threat of a "snowpocalypse" is generally downgraded on the day it was to happen.  That's how today was, it was forecasted for Portland to receive up to seven inches of snow, and while the day isn't over yet it's not looking that way.  I have to admit, I was looking forward to working from home tomorrow in my PJ's (hopefully it will snow a lot tonight).

P.S. Can you believe that there are only seven days left of the challenge?  It seems to have flown by this time around!

Outfit Crush

I have to admit, I've watched almost every movie that Amanda Bynes has acted in, as well as her TV shows including All That.   Even though this picture isn't the best, I love the simplicity of her outfit.  I've been seeing these ballet flats pop up on various blogs and even at Gap, and they will definitely be added to my spring/summer clothing wish list.

Paperbag Skirt

 {Button-Up: Forever 21, Skirt: Can't Remember, Tights: JCPenney, Oxfords: Nine West}

I wanted to be sure that I wore a skirt this week before the "snowpocalypse" in Portland forced me into jeans, boots, and most likely a comfy sweatshirt.  It's forecasted that the hills of Portland receive up to 7 inches of snow, and that to me is practically the equivalent of 5 feet of snow.  Also this weekend I went grocery shopping and forgot an entire bag of groceries at the check stand after paying.  After looking for my avocados and tomatoes (who am I kidding I was looking for the popcorn) I realized I had forgotten them ... I felt like such a dork!

So basically I'm a fearful and forgetful 24 year old.  It sure is a darn good thing I have a sweet boyfriend, great friends, and wonderful family who can appreciate my quirks.

President's Day

{Blazer: H&M, Shirt: Can't Remember, Jeans: H&M, Boots: Steve Madden}

My day off started with brunch at a new to me restaurant in SE Portland called Genie's with Justine, Jenna, and Brooke.  Then we went to a few vintage stores the Lounge Lizard and then to Vintage Pink.  Justine bought a beautiful black and white desk and bedside table.  It was definitely a fun way to spend my day off of work.

G Weekend

 {Cardigan: Forever 21, Button-Up: Old Navy, Jeans: Gap, Boots: Macy's}

 {Cardigan: H&M, Top: Old Navy, Jeans: Forever 21, Boots: Steve Madden}

 {Sweater: Forever 21, Jeans: American Rag, Shoes: Forever 21}

This weekend I was able to have a lot of G time with a couple of my favorite girls.  Saturday during the day I hung out with my friend Tara and then Sunday with Justine and Jenna.  Justine helped me take my outfit photo on Sunday and we also felt inspired to take a few photos together.  Now I'm about to make some spaghetti and meatballs and then watch the first episode of The Amazing Race.

{Top: Can't Remember, Cardigan: Forever 21, Jeans: Gap, Boots: DSW}

{Button Up: The Limited, Sweater: Forever 21, Jeans: Forever 21, Flats: BCBG}

Sorry that I've been MIA the past couple of days I had to go to Southern Oregon.  Now onto the outfits, the first of the two outfits was perfect for the snow that we unexpectedly had Wednesday morning.  I woke up and there was three inches of snow outside my apartment (that's a lot for someone who doesn't like driving in the snow).  Also, I may have worn the first outfit two days in a row, gross maybe, practical for traveling yes.

The second outfit was great for a Friday.  Not to mention it being comfortable for my eight hour working day!

What is everyone doing this three day weekend? I'm getting coffee with my old coworker tomorrow, then hopefully catching up on sleep, eating delicious food, and watching movies on Netflix.

Outfit Crush

I'm sure that Olivia Palermo could make the most outrageous outfit or accessory look good.  But I'm really enjoying the mix of white and khaki, with the pop of turquoise in her clutch.  So perfect for spring and summer.

Half-Way to the End

 {Button-Up: Forever 21, Belt: H&M, Skirt: Old Navy, Tights: Forever 21, Oxfords: Nine West}

We're halfway through the challenge! I'm so happy that I was able to get caught up again after starting a day after everyone else.  If you're doing the challenge, how do you think you're doing so far?

Outfit Fourteen

{Top: Can't remember, Cardigan: Old Navy, Belt: Target (came with a dress), Jeans: Forever 21, Boots: Steve Madden}

When I got off work I was too excited for my Valentine's day-evening plans to write a blog post.  After work I enjoyed some wine and talked fashion with two of my pals (what more could you want?).  Then when I got home I had some bubbly and exchanged presents with my boyfriend and had dinner.  It was the perfect little Valentine's evening, especially since we celebrated on Saturday.

Red Velvet Cupcakes

This weekend I was so excited to make cupcakes from scratch for the first time.  I wanted to make red velvet cupcakes because they're one of my favorites, and in honor of Valentine's day today.

Don't worry if you don't have a pastry bag for the frosting, I didn't have one either so instead I put all of the frosting in a Ziploc and cut off one corner and used that to pipe the frosting.  You also can use a knife to spread the frosting on the cupcakes.  Unfortunately this recipe calls for a lot of oil, so the next time I will substitute apple sauce for the oil to make the recipe somewhat healthy.  Other than that, these were very simple to make, maybe you'll whip some up for your Valentine's day.

Cognac Fever

{First Outfit: Button-Up: Old Navy, Belt, Skirt & Tights: Forever 21, Boots: Steve Madden - Second Outfit: Top: Can't Remember, Skirt: Forever 21, Belt: Can't Remember, Tights: Forever 21, Boots: Macy's}

Saturday I wanted a more casual look for the day while I was running errands with my mom, and then something a little different for dinner with my bf.  We went to Henry's Bar and Tavern for dinner, and then to see No Strings Attached which was a really funny movie.

{Blazer: Old Navy, Sweater: Forever 21, Jeans: Forever 21, Boots: Steve Madden}
I didn't do much on Sunday other than grocery shop, look through People Style Watch (one of my favorite magazines) and read a book for work.  I love relaxing Sundays with nothing on my schedule.  As you can tell from the pictures I also spent some quality time with my cat Oreo.
How was your weekend?

Awkward & Awesome Friday

{Button-Up: The Limited, Necklace: Forever 21, Jeans: Forever 21, Boots: Macy's}

I always enjoy reading Sydney's Awkward and Awesome Thursday posts, and didn't have the opportunity to participate yesterday.  I wanted to create some Awkward and Awesome things that happened this week.

- How chipped my nails are right now, seriously polish never stays perfect on my nails for more than two days.
- Trying to squeeze the last little bit of toothpaste out of the tube because you're just too lazy to get a new one.
- Water on public restroom counters
- Losing one glove while walking downtown
- When people call the work line and try to activate their credit card.  Um this isn't your bank in Kentucky, and this is not the correct phone number.  Even more awkward when they insist they have called the right number.

- Being told you look nice today by an old guy in the office building.
- Eating at my favorite lunch restaurant
- Red velvet cupcakes that I'm baking this weekend (hopefully they'll be awesome, they may appear on next week's "awkward" list).
- My parents who are celebrating their 28th wedding anniversary tomorrow.  Happy anniversary mom and dad!

{Blazer: Old Navy, Top: The Limited, Jeans: Gap, Belt: Forever 21, Boots: Steve Madden}

Just a quick post since I just got home from the Portland International Film Festival after watching Potiche.  It was a great French film set in the 70s and gave me many laughs!

P.S. I love feeling like a tourist in my own town, and can't wait to explore Portland more!

Leopard, Chambray, and Oxfords

{Button-Up: Old Navy, Belt: H&M, Skirt: Can't Remember, Tights: Forever 21, Oxfords: Nine West}

Everyone meet my office, office meet everyone. Okay I'm glad that I got that introduction out of the way, and now I can discuss my outfit. This morning my boyfriend said that my outfit reminded him off a teacher or librarian, not that I've ever seen a librarian wear a leopard print belt, but then again to each his own style.  Speaking of foreign films, okay not really about foreign films at all, but tomorrow I will be attending the Portland International Film Festival.  I won two tickets to the Festival on Twitter by correctly guessing a random a number between 1 and 50.  Apparently I have a guessing ability, and should probably go bet on something but that isn't really my style so for now I'll stick to guessing random numbers.

Outfit Crush

To me this outfit epitomizes effortless winter style.  It is something I would love to throw on for a cold and rainy day and spend an afternoon at the coffee shop with a good book and stack of magazines.  What is your go-to rainy weekend outfit?

Seven Eleven

{Blazer: H&M, Sweater: Forever 21, Necklace: Gift, Jeans: Gap, Oxfords: Nine West}

Today's look was a bit out of my comfort zone.  Not only did I wear shoes that I normally reserve for a skirt or dress and tights, but I also wore my hair in a low side ponytail and I'm not sure if this is cool anymore?  I asked my boyfriend this morning if he liked my outfit and he said "it'll work," and so with that vote of confidence I went about my day.  Throughout the day, I came to the decision that I did indeed like my outfit today.

Today is also blazer day over at Everybody Everywear and I'm so excited to participate.  So if you haven't already, be sure to check out the way other bloggers have styled their blazers.

Lumberjack Club

 {Cardigan: Gap, Button-Up: Forever 21, Belt: Came with a shirt, Jeans: Forever 21, Boots: DSW}

Coming from a state known for its lumber and trees it's somewhat of a surprise that this is one of the first plaid shirts that I own, and I just recently bought it.  I have to say that this will probably not be the last plaid shirt I own, because a lot like stripes, I feel like it's so easy to wear.

So I have a confession to make ... this challenge has been a lot more difficult for me than the last one.  For some reason I am so much more tempted to shop, and I don't know why that is.  I keep telling myself to resist, and so far I've done well, but I am finding various reasons to buy stuff for my apartment or go to the grocery store.  I guess it's probably better to buy a picture frame here or there, or stuff to make red velvet cupcakes than to buy another shirt right?

Superbowl Weekend

 {Cardigan: H&M, Shirt: Target, Necklace: The Loft, Jeans: H&M, Flats: BCBG}

 {Cardigan: H&M, Shirt: Old Navy, Jeans: Forever 21, Boots: Steve Madden}

No your eyes aren't playing tricks on you, both of my outfits from this weekend looked very similar.  What can I say, I like stripes and skinny jeans.  The Superbowl is about to start, and I have to get the snacks and drinks ready.  Which team are you rooting for?

Let Me Hear that Country Twang

{Button-Up: Forever 21, Belt: H&M, Jeans: Gap, Boots: Steve Madden}

Originally I was going to wear a green belt with this outfit, but after hearing that today was National Wear Red Day for heart disease awareness I wanted to put on my red belt.  All day I felt like I was either going to a picnic for the 4th of July or attend a rodeo, either way I felt I in a country music mood hence my title.

This weekend I'm planning on wandering around Ikea, going on a dinner date with my boyfriend, watching the Super Bowl (and of course eating and judging the commercials), and then a game night.  I'm also hoping that the weather stays [fairly] nice and I can wander around Portland!  I'd love to know, what are your weekend plans?

High Gloss & Rue Mags

Earlier this week I was able to browse through two wonderful online magazines, High Gloss and Rue. These are a few of my favorite things that I found when reading - I want all of them!

I added my blog to Bloglovin, and would love you to follow me!

Olive without a Pimento

{Cardigan: H&M, Dress: Calvin Klein (borrowed from friend), Tights: Target, Boots: Steve Madden, Necklace, Forever 21}

Last night, along with updating my Netflix Instant queue, I got happy hour at Hall Street Grill.  Let me tell you, the food was delicious especially the microbrew fries with chipotle aioli, yum!  Also, my cat is sitting on my lap right now and I'm pretty sure he has hiccups.  Can cats get hiccups? If someone knows will you let me know?

Nummer eins

{Sweater: Forever 21, Skirt: Old Navy, Belt: H&M, Tights: Target, Oxfords: Nine West}

Thankfully I felt much better today than I have for the past two days, and I was able to start the challenge.  While I like this outfit in concept, it was absolutely driving me nuts every time I walked because my tights were causing my skirt to ride up.  Other than that I really liked this outfit because it was one that I would not have worn if it wasn't for the 30 for 30.  That's really why I like doing this challenge, because it forces me to wear outfits that I wouldn't normally, and to wear skirts and dresses when it's 25 degrees outside.  I don't know how Sydney, Jessica, and Tania are able to make cold weather fashionable, because boy is it cold in tights and a skirt!

P.S. Did everyone hear that Punxsutawney Phil didn't see his shadow, so we should be getting an early spring? I know I'm not alone when I say that I am so happy about that!

Outfit Crush

J.Crew's spring look book has me lusting for warmer temperatures, and this striped dress fits my aesthetic perfectly.  I can't wait to embrace the nautical theme in the spring and summer!

Under the Weather

I seem to have caught a bug, and won't be starting the challenge until tomorrow.  In the meantime I can't wait to see what everyone has posted for day one and to read Rue magazine and Highgloss magazine.  Check back tomorrow to see my first outfit.
