Rock the Belt

{Scarf: Boutique in San Francisco, Button-Up: Forever 21, Belt: Forever 21, Jeans: Gap, Heels: Macy's}

I've seen many other bloggers rockin' the belted scarf look, and today I decided to give it a try.  Overall I liked the look, but I think next time I would try it with a shorter scarf, and a different shirt.  Do you have any other suggestions for the belted scarf look?  Tonight I've had a productive evening which is one of my favorite things - work out: check, laundry: check, tidying: check, next up dinner, and tonight it's chicken parmigiana and I couldn't be more excited! Also, my best friend is coming over and I think we may even squeeze in some Christmas crafts or a Dexter marathon.  Have a fantastic Tuesday everyone!

Christmas Wish List

Although I am currently in a shopping ban for the 30 for 30 challenge, I have been thinking about my Christmas and birthday list.  It's both a blessing and a curse to have my birthday just nine days after Christmas, it really makes me think about various wish list items, and gives my boyfriend some clues about what to get me - hint*hint.

P.S. The best part about all of my wish list items is that they are all under $125!

 {Cardigan: Target, Shirt: Old Navy, Fedora: JC Penney, Jeans: Citizens of Humanity, Flats, BCBG}
After throwing on this outfit and running out the door this morning (I always seem to be running late on Mondays) I realized that this outfit is more springy than wintry.  It was nice to wear such a cheerful color today though since it was pretty gray outside.  I'm really excited because my mind has been flowing with various craft ideas for Christmas decorations, expect a blog post soon with some of my creations.

Lazy Weekend

 {Top: Forever 21, Scarf: Old Navy, Jeans: H&M, Bracelet: Steve & Barry's, Flats: BCBG}

I don't have too much to say today, and considering the amount of food and empty calories that I consumed this extended weekend, I should probably use this time to go work out.  Have a wonderful Sunday everyone!

Black Friday

{Cardigan: H&M, T-Shirt Dress: Old Navy, Tights: Target, Boots: Macy's, Scarf: Gift}

I had one thing in mind when picking out my outfit for Thanksgiving, and that was comfort.  I was so happy that I included this T-shirt dress as one of my 30 items because it is by far the most comfortable item in the challenge.  I hope that everyone's Thanksgiving was filled with family fun and good food!

{Sweater: The Limited, Jeans: Gap, Necklace: Forever 21, Boots: Steve Madden}

This morning I was one of the crazy people who woke up bright and early to look for deals for the holidays.  Luckily it wasn't for nothing, and I was able to buy a lot of Christmas presents for people on my list, I was also able to meet up with a couple pals who I hadn't seen in several months.  I am particularly happy that I was able to watch the Oregon Ducks win the football game making them Pac-10 Champions!

Seventeen (sev′ən tēn′)

{Top: Can't remember, Jeans: American Eagle, Belt: Forever 21, Earrings: Won in a giveaway about five years ago, Boots: Steve Madden}

I wasn't able to post my outfit yesterday because I got distracted once I got to my parent's place with yummy food, I made chicken tortilla soup and several rounds of Yahtzee!  Earlier in the day, I had to get an allergy scratch test done on my back, if you've never needed this done you're so lucky.  But then I was able to drive home for Thanksgiving with one of my best pals, road trips are awesome!  My family and I are about to drive to my great-grandma's house for Thanksgiving, but first stop coffee shop!

Sweet Sixteen

 {Cardigan: H&M, Dress: Forever 21, Tights: Forever 21, Boots: Steve Madden}

I was a little hesitant to wear this outfit to work today because it seems like it got a little shorter since the last time I wore it.  I happened to remember the "hand rule" from elementary school, you know the one where your shorts or skirt can't be shorter than your hand on your leg? Luckily for me, I have barely grown since elementary school so most stuff is long enough for me, and also I was happy that this dress passed the test!

Guest Post: My So-Called Life

I am so flattered that Reni from My So-Called Life asked me to be a part of her series "What are you thankful for?"  Go on over to her wonderful blog and see what I had to say about what I'm thankful for and my favorite parts of Thanksgiving.

We've made it halfway!

 {Sweater: Gap, Jeans: Gap, Boots: Macy's}

Is everyone so excited that we're halfway through the challenge? It's been a lot of fun and has really made me spend so much less time in front of my closet wondering what to wear.  What item of clothing are you most happy that you included in your 30 items? For me it's a toss up between both pairs of boots, you definitely need boots in rainy (and sometimes snowy) Portland!

Saturday & Sunday

{Cardigan: H&M, T-Shirt Dress: Old Navy, Tights: Target, Belt: Forever 21, Boots: Steve Madden}

I hope that everyone has had a nice and relaxing weekend.  My weekend was exactly what I wanted.  I was not only able to get a lot of stuff done around our apartment, but also hang out with some pals, and eat some delicious food (breakfast scrambles each morning!).

As I write this it's snowing outside.  If you have lived in Portland or Oregon, you know that it rarely snows on the western part of the state and it even more rarely snows this early in the year.  It's very pretty to look at it, and is making me enjoy my tea that much more.

(I know that my jacket isn't part of my 30 items, but today it was just too cold to take it off for pictures.)

Friday Friday

{Top: Forever 21, Black jeans: H&M, Boots: Steve Madden}

I'm so happy that it's Friday, this week has been one of those weeks if you know what I mean.  I couldn't be more excited to enjoy a relaxing weekend at home with no set plans (I love this kind of weekend!). P.S. Please excuse the wonky stripes and hair tie.

Have a fantastic weekend!

Fill in the Blank Friday

1.   My Thanksgiving plans this year will include: driving to my parent's house about three hours away and spending it with my immediate family and their kitties!

2.  My favorite Thanksgiving was: I think that this year will be one of my favorites because it's the first year where I really feel A) excited to help my mom cook since I've began to have a liking for cooking and B) will actually bake a dessert item!

3.  My signature Thanksgiving dish is: this is the first year that I'll be making something (blackberry cobbler) but one of my favorite things to eat is definitely mashed potatoes!

4.  My favorite Thanksgiving food is: besides mashed potatoes, I would say olives, they're the perfect snack food or cranberry sauce.

5.  Thanksgiving free association: turkey, cranberry sauce in a can...the kind with the lines on it -- I agree with you Lauren, that is delicious cranberry sauce!

6.  Thansgiving is: one of my favorite holidays because it's a time when you and your loved ones can all come together and be thankful for the little things and enjoy a meal together!

7.  I am thankful for:  so many things - my friends and family, my loving boyfriend who is luckily my best friend too, my adorable kitty, a roof over my head, a job, health insurance, a car, food, etc., etc.

Black and white and [a little] red all over

{belt fastening from The Daybook}

Oreo wanted to be in some of my 30 for 30 pictures, and he matched the black and white of my outfit so I decided it was okay.  While I'm still recovering from a cold, I didn't want to pass up some quality G time with one of my pals tonight.  I've heard that Portland has more happy hours than a lot of cities, so my friend and I decided to enjoy one on this rainy Thursday evening. It was just what the doctor ordered.

Under the Weather

{Sweater: H&M, Top & Skirt: Can't remember, Tights: Target, Oxfords: Nine West}

Hi guys, I seem to have caught a cold this week.  Luckily my best pal Justine and I took some outfit photos on Sunday because we saw rain in the forecast, so I'm actually able to share photos of what I wore today despite feeling crummy.  Happy Wednesday everyone!

{Top & Belt: Forever 21, Jeans: Gap, Heels: Macy's}

This challenge has been good for me, because it has made me appreciate my clothes and especially my accessories.  As you can see in the following pictures I kind of have a shopping problem, granted most of my clothes were purchased either on sale or from Forever 21, it's still a lot for one person!

Dresses & coats in spare room closet

 Shirts, workout clothes, jeans, and unmentionables

 Walk in closet in the bedroom with my boyfriend's little section of clothes.  These photos don't include my under the bed storage for clothes.  As you can see the 30 for 30 challenge was a good idea for me!

8 Days a Week

{Top: The Limited, Jeans: Citizens of Humanity, Flats: BCBG}

Yesterday and today I have been trying a different look with my hair, and for tomorrow I think I'll try the tutorial from Sydney and The Daybook.  I hope that my hair looks half as cute as hers!  I don't have much to say today, probably because I'm rather tired despite two cups of coffee and a soda.  This is a pretty standard feeling for me during the first month or so of winter, and until I'm use to the minimal Vitamin D exposure.

Good luck remixers during week two!

Six & Seven

I was stupid, er brave yesterday to tempt my willpower by going not only to H&M, but also Kate Spade and Forever 21.  I think everyone in 30 for 30 community would be happy for me that I was able hold out until December 7th to buy anything!

Today my pal and I decided to try something different with my hair, which you'll see in the next couple day's photos.  I hope that you all had a wonderful weekend!

Casual Friday

{Sweater & Jeans: Gap, Heels: Macy's}

After wearing skirts/dresses and tights for the last three days I was so happy to put some jeans on again.  I bought these jeans with a Groupon to Gap right before the challenge started, and they were such a good deal!  After work, I went to my friend's place to make some Irish meatballs and mashed potatoes for dinner so I wanted to wear something comfortable.

 {Top: Forever 21, Skirt: Banana Republic, Tights: Forever 21, Boots: Macy's}

Today is the first real test of my willpower during the 30 for 30.  H&M opened it's very first store in Oregon today, and to make it worse only 15 minutes away from where I live.  Don't worry though, I was able to overcome the strong urge to shop!

I'm going to another Bikram class tonight, apparently I didn't think it was too bad the first time.  Wish me luck!

{Cardigan: H&M, Dress: Forever 21, Tights: Target, Oxfords: Nine West}

I'll let you in on a little secret, I'm mildly OCD ... okay make that pretty OCD.  I knew that this 30 for 30 challenge would be stressful for me unless I had some sort of plan.  Part of my OCD is that I absolutely love making spreadsheets (nerdy I know), but it's true I will create a spreadsheet for practically anything and this challenge was no different.  Here is a snapshot of how I organized my 30 days:

Like I said, I had to go about this in an organized fashion. Thanks for letting me share how OCD I am with you ... now tell me, did you do anything crazy to prepare for the challenge?

Twice as Nice

Last night I attended my very first Bikram yoga class. There is not much to say about the class other than the fact that it is so different than Wii yoga, and I knew it would be a little different I just wasn't sure how much. I can't say that it was my favorite workout activity, and I think that I prefer the comfort of my living room and Wii game system for my workouts but who knows I might start to like it.

{Top: The Limited, Skirt, Tights, and Belt: Forever 21, Boots: Steve Madden, Earrings: Can't Remember}

The Kick Off

I'm about to head out the door for my very first Bikram yoga class.  If you haven't heard of Bikram yoga, it's a 90 minute yoga class in a 105 degree room.  Wish me luck, and I'll let you know how it goes tomorrow!

{Cardigan: H&M, Button-Up: Gap, Jeans: American Eagle, Belt: Forever 21, Boots: Steve Madden}

P.S. Am I am nerd for being excited about spending my Fred Meyer rewards on holiday decorations? If that makes me a nerd, then I don't want to be cool.

Paste a link to your 30 items in the comment section.  I'd love to see your choices!

30 for 30 Challenge

I've read Kendi's comedic fashion blog for several months now. Not only does she have great taste in clothing, but she has challenged herself to create 30 different outfits out of 30 items of clothing. She's doing the challenge again, and this time I decided to participate! For the duration of the challenge you are also not supposed to spend money on clothing, accessories, or shoes. I'm both excited and nervous for the challenge, and I hope that you will join me to see how well I do!

[p.s. I even put all of my 30 for 30 items together in a section of my closet so I'm not tempted and drawn off course by my other clothes! Hopefully that will help. :)]

P.S. Because Black Friday happens to be during the challenge, I am allowing myself to shop on that day. Can't pass up any of those good deals!
